The Ethereum Fusaka upgrade was officially launched on the Sepolia testnet today (14) and successfully completed testing. The next step is to launch the Hoodi testnet, the last testnet to be upgraded. If all goes well with the Hoodi testnet, Fusaka is expected to hit the mainnet in early December. (Synopsis: ETH Harden!) Pectra, Fusaka, Glamsterdam upgrade trio, the core developers tell you where the future of Ethereum is) (Background supplement: an article to understand Ethereum Pectra upgrade: full analysis of EIPs) Ethereum's Fusaka upgrade was officially launched on the Sepolia testnet today (14) and successfully completed the test. @sassal0x, founder of The Daily Gwei, posted on the X platform later today: “The Ethereum testnet Sepolia has been successfully upgraded to Fusaka! Next up is the Hoodi testnet, the last testnet to be upgraded. If all goes well on the Hoodi testnet, Fusaka is expected to hit the mainnet in early December.” The Ethereum testnet, Sepolia, has been successfully upgraded to Fusaka! Next up is the Hoodi testnet which is the final testnet being upgraded. If all goes well with Hoodi, Fusaka should land on mainnet in early December. — sassal.eth/acc (@sassal0x) October 14, 2025 What is the Fusaka upgrade? What are the features and improvements? The Fusaka upgrade is another major upgrade to Ethereum's May 2025 Pectra upgrade, which aims to improve the scalability of the Ethereum network, reduce transaction fees, and optimize node operating efficiency. As part of Ethereum's scaling blueprint, Fusaka is focused on enhancing data availability and the performance of the Layer 2 ecosystem. Key Features and Improvements PeerDAS: This is Fusaka's core technology that allows validators to verify only pieces of data without downloading complete “blobs”. This improvement reduces bandwidth and storage requirements by 90%, significantly reducing the cost of running a node, especially for small validators or novice users. Blob capacity scaling: Fusaka doubles data throughput by increasing the target number of blobs per block from 6 to 14 (up to 21). This will significantly increase the transaction capacity of the L2 network. Verkle Trees and EVM Optimization: Verkle Trees replaces some Merkle Trees, providing a smaller proof size and reduced data download requirements, especially for mobile applications and low-resource devices. At the same time, EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) optimization will also simplify the user experience. Gas fee reduction: With bounded blob fees, transaction fees for L2 networks will be further reduced, which is expected to alleviate network congestion. Schedule and development progress The development of the Fusaka upgrade is progressing steadily, following the successful launch of the Holesky testnet two weeks ago, which was completed today. The developers plan to conduct their final test on October 28 on the Hoodi testnet, which is considered the most important indicator of Fusaka's performance due to its proximity to the mainnet environment. If the Hoodi test goes well, Fusaka is expected to officially land on the mainnet in early December 2025. It is worth mentioning that to ensure the security of the upgrade, the Ethereum Foundation also launched a four-week audit competition in September 2025, offering up to $2 million in prizes to discover potential vulnerabilities in Fusaka's code. The analysis pointed out that with the advancement of Fusaka's upgrade, Ethereum is accelerating to become a more efficient and user-friendly blockchain platform. This will not only strengthen its position in the DeFi and NFT space, but also hopefully attract more institutions and promote the widespread adoption of blockchain technology.
