The longest lie told to me is that our parents said, "When you grow up, you'll understand." I don't understand. People don't suddenly understand those big truths just because they reach a certain age. People also don't find wealth, status, and ability easily accessible just because they get older. Some truths, you don't understand when you're young, and if you don't experience them when you grow up, chances are you still won't understand. For example, making money is a skill. Some people, even after living most of their lives, still can't grasp the logic of earning money, and end up living in poverty in old age. Others learn to make money at a very young age, achieving success and confidence in their youth. When you grow up, you'll understand, and when you grow up, you'll have everything. This lie makes us yearn to grow up but ignores the essence of what we gain. The truths in books and others' teachings are never truly yours from the start to the end. Only the things you do and experience yourself truly belong to you. The earlier you experience and feel, the more important they are to you.
