FIFA recently announced a partnership with the blockchain game studio Mythical Games to launch the free football chain game FIFA Rivals in the summer of 2025, allowing players to create and manage their own football clubs and compete with other players in real-time battles, aiming to attract more than 100 million players. Mythical Games CEO John Linden said FIFA Rivals is expected to attract more than 100 million players, following the success of NFL Rivals, which has attracted more than 6 million registered players despite its smaller target audience. FIFA Rivals will use the Polkadot parachain Mythos developed by Mythical, reflecting the growing trend of cooperation between sports associations and blockchain game studios, bringing fans a fun and interactive experience. The launch of FIFA Rivals is due to the Mythos Foundation, established by Mythical in October 2022 to attract and support new players and developers in its ecosystem, with a mission to build cross-chain interaction infrastructure, establish in-game economies, support game guilds, promote traditional esports into the Web3 field, and work with traditional game platforms to develop new policies for players. Mythical completed a $37 million Series C financing in June 2023 to expand its market and pursue other revenue-generating projects.
