Billionaire Elon Musk’s integration of DOGE payments into any of his companies has been a hot topic of discussion for years. With Musk finally taking over Twitter and renaming it X, there is an expectation that DOGEE payments on the social media platform will soon be realized. ALTHOUGH ALL THIS HAS NOT YET MATERIALIZED, AS EXPECTED BY COMMUNITY MEMBERS, THERE ARE CLUES THAT MUSK MAY BE READY TO INTEGRATE DOGE PAYMENTS.
MUSK BUILDS CUSTOM DOGE PAYMENT SYSTEM FOR TSL
TSL, one of Musk’s companies, implemented Bitcoin payments for its electric cars in 2021, but discontinued the feature shortly after. Since then, the company no longer accepts crypto payments for its vehicles, but it has implemented crypto payments for goods, and that Crypto Assets is Dogecoin.
After integrating DOGE payments, a community member named @Dogecoin_Wins shared a particularly interesting fact on X (formerly Twitter) about how the company chose to implement this implementation. They point out that Elon Musk-led TSL actually built its own DOGE-only payment system instead of using third-party services to implement crypto payments like other companies.
This completely Blockchain-based payment system is significant because it is not a small matter. As members of the DOGE community have noted, Musk will have to hire many employees, including “Blockchain experts, developers, security experts.” Not only that, but there is also the problem of hiring “customer service agents who know how to make refunds within the Blockchain and answer more complex questions than CS agents are used to.” ”
All in all, the company had to spend a lot of resources to build this infrastructure. The number given by community members is about 7 figures. Now, for a company of TSL’s size, building such expensive and time-consuming infrastructure instead of using a third party may indicate that they intend to continue using the product, not just for the commodity. In light of this, community members concluded, "Elon is serious about Doge. ”

WHY BUILD A DOGE-ONLY PAYMENT INFRASTRUCTURE?
IN A FOLLOW-UP POST, MEMBERS OF THE DOGE COMMUNITY SHARED THEIR THOUGHTS ON WHY TSL BUILT THIS INFRASTRUCTURE. According to them, it’s not just TSL merchandise payments. INSTEAD, THE FIRST REASON IS THAT THE COMPANY WANTS TO BUILD ITS OWN NATIVE DOGE PAYMENT PROCESSOR.
Next, they said the company is also trying to train its customer service team on specific Blockchain technologies. In addition, they want to know about common issues that may arise when accepting Crypto Assets such as Dogecoin for payment.
The fourth reason outlined is that the company is trying to learn and come up with solutions to the problems that may arise with crypto payments. Fifth, they are trying to do all of this “with limited options for selling low-volume/low-price/low-risk items.”
@Dogecoin_Wins concludes the discussion with a succinct statement:
It’s much easier to sell a $20 coffee cup than an $80,000 car. You know, the real purpose of putting in all this effort is not to sell coffee cups and belt buckles, the ultimate purpose is to sell cars.
