Lisk, the L1 blockchain, announced that it will be built on top of Gelato’s Rollup-as-a-Service (RaaS) platform as a secondary network and migrated to the ETH ecosystem using the OP Stack provided by Optimism.
Since its inception in 2016, Lisk has worked to democratize blockchain accessibility, and its new L2 eco-chain will focus on:
→ Bring real-world assets (RWAs) on-chain
→ Creation of a Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network (DePIN)
Lisk’s new L2 chain is scheduled to launch in 2024 as a fully serviced Gelato eco-chain. This means that Lisk will be able to use all the infrastructure and Web3 tools needed to build user-friendly web3 applications for developers, starting with genesis blocks, including indexers, oracles, bridges, RPCs, account abstractions, and many other web3 services.
In addition to Gelato’s existing support for the Polygon CDK, Gelato now supports the OP Stack, an open-source and modular development framework developed by the Optimism Collective. As part of this expansion, Gelato facilitated the transformation of Lisk from the L1 blockchain to the L2 of the ETH and became part of the ETH Workshop’s ecosystem. As a result, Lisk will join OP Mainnet, Base, and other OP Chains, becoming the first L1 chain to commit to supporting Optimism’s Superchain vision.
"Gelato’s expansion of support for the OP Stack demonstrates our mission to revolutionize the blockchain space. By making the modular block space more democratized and accessible, we provide a variety of creators with the ability to deploy their own unique and ready-to-use L2 blockchains. This critical action will unleash the full potential of mainstream crypto applications and mark a new era of blockchain adoption. - Luis Schliesske, Founder, Gelato.
Designed to alleviate congestion on the ETH mainnet, OP Stack is the standard, open-source foundation that underpins the Optimism ecosystem and is designed to support Superchain. By leveraging Gelato’s Rollup-as-a-Service platform, in addition to deploying, hosting, and monitoring new L2 chains, OP Stack now has native integrations with Gelato’s leading Web3 middleware services, including automation, off-chain data, and account abstraction, for a better user experience. In addition, the platform provides native access to front-line Web3 services such as Etherscan, The Graph, LayerZero, and more.
L2 chains deployed with Gelato, such as Lisk, get more than just the underlying blockchain. These secondary chains get a fully producible Web3 development environment. For the first time in the Web3 space, developers are able to access an end-to-end fully serviced OP Chain with all the necessary infrastructure dependencies deployed from the start.
“We are thrilled that Gelato, as a RaaS service provider, has supported Lisk’s connection to Superchain, making it easier for developers to introduce new users to the Superchain ecosystem,” said Ben Jones, Chief Scientist at the Optimism Foundation. "Gelato has executed millions of transactions on the OP mainnet for projects like Synthetix, Lyra, and Velodrome, and we look forward to Gelato putting their development expertise to work on Superchain’s vision. ”
With just a few clicks and no code to write, anyone can easily deploy their fully serviced OP Chain using the Gelato Rollup-as-a-Service platform, allowing developers to focus on growing their core business.
"Using Gelato’s Roll up as a Service platform allows Lisk’s R&D team to focus primarily on building add-ons and tools that developers and end-users love, while also devoting resources to the development of Superchain. Dominic Schwenter, Lisk’s Chief Project Officer, said.
Gelato and Optimism share a vision: to build a world of thousands of interconnected blockchains that can scale horizontally for web3 applications. Gelato’s Rollup-as-a-Service platform will serve as a key component of this environment, running its customers’ underlying blockchains and providing an end-to-end development environment that includes integrated key developer infrastructure services.
About Gelato
Gelato is an all-in-one ETH rollup service platform with unlimited builds. Designed to be ultra-fast, extremely secure, and infinitely scalable, Gelato rollups allow anyone to build and deploy their own fully serviced L2 chain, launching a production-ready web3 development environment at a speed that natively integrates with Web3’s most popular tools and services, starting with the genesis block.
About Optimism
Optimism is a project dedicated to expanding ETH technology and expanding its ability to coordinate people around the world to build effective, decentralized power structures. Optimism Collective builds best-in-class software to run L2 blockchains and aims to solve key governance and economic challenges in the broader crypto ecosystem. Optimism Collective is also committed to building a sustainable ecosystem through Retroactive Public Goods Funding. By rewarding impactful projects, Optimism is expanding ETH Workshop’s present to fund its future.
About Lisk
Lisk provides a cost-effective, fast, and scalable secondary (L2) network, secured by ETH. As a long-term Web3 infrastructure project, Lisk has been democratizing blockchain accessibility for developers and end-users across the globe since 2016. Its core focus is to solve local problems in emerging markets by introducing on-chain solutions around real-world assets (RWA), off-chain assets (OCAs), and DePins. As a member of the Optimism Superchain, Lisk is working hard to reach the next billion Web3 users.
