Google updates its cryptocurrency advertising policy with the following changes

U.S. tech giant Google has updated its cryptocurrency advertising policy as certification is now required for promotion.

In an effort to refine its advertising policies, Google recently announced an update to its cryptocurrency advertising policies, specifically targeting cryptocurrency trusts.

Google’s new certification requirements

The changes, which will take effect on January 29, 2024, are designed to provide users with more reliable information and protect them from potential risks associated with cryptocurrency investments. The updated policy specifically targets advertisers who offer cryptocurrency trusts in the United States.

To run cryptocurrency ads for these products, advertisers must now comply with specific requirements and be certified by Google. This certification process is designed to ensure that advertisers meet certain criteria, thereby improving the overall quality and credibility of cryptocurrency-related ads on the platform.

According to the announcement, advertisers must ensure that there are no issues with their cryptocurrency trust and that its operations comply with Google’s standards for financial products. Additionally, the certification process may include a positive checkmark icon indicating that the advertiser has met Google’s requirements and is approved to serve crypto ads for the cryptocurrency trust.

While these changes are for the United States, Google reminds advertisers that they should comply with local laws in any region where their ads are targeted. This ensures the application of global policies, and all accounts that advertise cryptocurrency trusts will be subject to these regulations.

Google’s Cryptocurrency Advertising Policy Extends to NFTs

It’s worth mentioning that Google earlier adjusted its advertising policy for blockchain games involving non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The new policy allows ads for NFT games that do not promote gambling-related content. However, advertisers must meet specific requirements and be certified to serve these ads.

For ads promoting gambling-related content integrated with NFTs, advertisers need to be certified to comply with Google’s gambling and gaming policies. This additional crypto advertising measure highlights Google’s commitment to responsible advertising, ensuring that users are not exposed to potentially harmful content.

As Google continues to grow its services, it is preparing to launch a new multimodal artificial intelligence (AI) model called Gemini. This model includes three different sizes, including the Gemini Ultra, Gemini Pro, and Gemini Nano, which are designed for specific tasks and mobile device capabilities.
