Vitalik: The compliant method for client scanning is a locally maintained AI by different organizations, which is optional for users and does not require complex Cryptography.

Foresight News reported that Ian Miers, a professor of security and applied Cryptography, tweeted that Cryptography is a subset of the security field rather than a theoretical branch. Certain data is too sensitive to be stored centrally, even with MPC/FHE, such as some global AML KYC or content review solutions. Vitalik Buterin responded that the content itself is Plaintext, and anonymous posting combined with banning features can be implemented through ZK proofs. AI content adjustment rights can use ZK proof algorithms and delayed release. Regarding the review of encrypted message content (such as chat control), Ian Miers pointed out that neither TEE nor Cryptography can securely handle servers viewing all messages. Vitalik agreed and believed that a compliant method for client scanning is for users to optionally use local AI maintained by different organizations (or completely turn it off), without the need for complex Cryptography.
