So, what exactly is AIGC? It’s a technology that uses artificial intelligence to generate content. It covers various formats such as text, images, audio, and video, where AI can automatically produce content. The world has been talking about ChatGPT recently, but that is just one success story of AIGC. The fact that it surpassed 100 million monthly active users in just one month is almost unprecedented.

Looking back at the history of AIGC, the emergence of Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) in 2014 was a turning point. The mechanism where the generative model and the discriminative model compete and optimize learning was revolutionary in the deep learning field at the time.

An interesting development is the integration of blockchain and AIGC. In 2020, a platform called Art Blocks, founded by Erick Snowfro, realized programmable generative content on the Ethereum blockchain. The system where randomly generated art is managed via hash values and minted as unique NFTs is truly brilliant. Creators pre-adjust scripts and deploy them, and collectors receive a random hash upon purchase, which then generates the NFT. This process greatly expanded the possibilities of generative art.

Recently, the CEO of a major exchange announced the official launch of an AI product. It allows users to add descriptions, and the AI generates new NFTs accordingly. This is reportedly the first implementation of an "image-to-image" application within the blockchain space.

Until 2021, AIGC mainly focused on text generation, but the new generation models now handle diverse content formats such as text, sound, images, videos, and actions. Especially in 2022, the rapid pace of development was astonishing. At the beginning of the year, the technology was still immature, but within a few months, it reached a professional level.

Thinking about what’s next, the realization of the metaverse will no longer be just a hollow concept. As AIGC matures, content creation will become dramatically more efficient, and labor consumption will be significantly reduced. With its infinite application potential, AIGC will generate high-quality content at high speed, supporting the rapid development of the metaverse.

At some point in the future, an innovative product might suddenly appear, allowing users to explore virtual worlds infinitely. When that happens, I believe we will truly feel the arrival of the Web3.0 era and the metaverse era through new experiences like ChatGPT. The evolution of AIGC is not just a technological trend; it has the power to transform the entire digital ecosystem.
