Odaily Planet Daily News: Coin Center executive director Peter Van Valkenburgh said that the Trump administration has not kept its promise not to prosecute developers of crypto privacy software, and that there is a clear mismatch between actual enforcement and policy statements, leaving developers facing uncertain legal risks. Currently, the U.S. Department of Justice is still bringing lawsuits against multiple developers of privacy tools, and even sentencing them, including cases involving tools related to Bitcoin and Ethereum. Among them, the Ethereum developer Roman Storm has already been partially convicted, and prosecutors are trying to restart the remaining charges. Coin Center warned that in the absence of “binding legal clarity,” activities involving privacy tools may still be held accountable based on user use cases (such as money laundering), further increasing compliance uncertainty across the industry.
