Violent clashes erupt following death of Mexican cartel leader

The security situation in Mexico is greatly shaken. A few days after the military operation in Jalisco, it was discovered that Nemesio Oseguera, the supreme leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), had died, and violent riots broke out throughout Mexico in response. Retaliatory activities by armed groups have been carried out one after another, and social infrastructure has been greatly affected.

Military Operations and Sudden Death of Leaders in Jalisco

In the operation carried out by the troops, CJNG leader Nemesio Osegera fiercely resisted the arrest of the authorities and was seriously injured in the process. According to a report by Ming Pao, he died later due to the wound. The CJNG is considered one of the most powerful cartels in Mexico, and the death of its leader was expected to have a major impact on Mexico’s organized crime structure.

Retaliation and road occupation by cartel forces

In response to the death of the leader, the CJNG and related armed groups launched retaliatory activities en masse. A series of arsons on vehicles in several areas of Mexico have blocked major roads one after another. In addition to obstructing traffic, direct clashes with security forces have also been reported in various places, which temporarily plunged Mexican society into a state of extreme chaos. From such organized riots, the great control and organizational power of the cartel is conveyed.

Cascading Effects on the Aviation Industry

These series of upheavals also had a serious impact on economic activity in Mexico. The spillover to the aviation industry was particularly pronounced, causing significant disruptions to the operations of multiple airports. Airlines in the United States, Canada, and Mexico were forced to cancel flights to affected areas, causing a cascading blow to society as a whole, with many passengers stranded.

Violence by Mexican cartel organizations is closely watching from all quarters to see how it will affect the future domestic situation.
