Japanese stock market rises; as of the closing, the Nikkei 225 index increased by 0.71%

Investing.com – The Japanese stock market closed higher on Thursday, led by gains in sectors such as real estate, banking, and textiles.

At the Tokyo close, the Nikkei 225 index rose by 0.71%.

The best-performing stock in the Nikkei 225 was Yokohama Rubber Co Ltd (TYO:5101), up 13.18% (892.00 points), closing at 7,660.00. Meanwhile, Japan Steel Works Ltd (TYO:5631) increased by 9.20% (834.00 points), closing at 9,904.00; Omron (TYO:6645) gained 6.86% (329.00 points), ending the session at 5,127.00.

The weakest-performing stock was Advantest Corp. (TYO:6857), down 3.58% (965.00 points), closing at 25,995.00. Noritsu Holdings (TYO:9843) declined by 3.18% (109.00 points), ending at 3,317.00; Fuji Film (TYO:4901) fell 3.02% (95.00 points), closing at 3,050.00.

On the Tokyo Stock Exchange, 2,246 stocks rose, outnumbering the 1,340 stocks that declined, while 240 stocks remained unchanged.

Yokohama Rubber Co Ltd (TYO:5101) stock surged to a record high, rising 13.18% (892.00 points), closing at 7,660.00. Omron (TYO:6645) stock reached a one-year high, up 6.86% (329.00 points), closing at 5,127.00.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures implied volatility of the Nikkei 225 index options, fell 6.47% to 27.89, hitting a nearly one-month low.

WTI crude oil futures for April delivery increased by 0.34% (0.22 points), reaching $65.27. In other futures markets, the April Brent crude oil futures rose by 0.26% (0.18 points), trading at $70.53, while April gold futures increased by 0.56% (28.21), trading at $5,037.71.

USD/JPY rose 0.20%, to 155.11; meanwhile, EUR/JPY increased by 0.24%, to 182.97.

The US dollar index futures declined by 0.01%, to 97.61.
