Striving for a "Good Start" | Accelerating the Comprehensive Progress of Three Major Supporting Power Grid Projects for the Chongqing-Kunming High-Speed Rail

Since 2026, the Yunnan Kunming Power Supply Bureau of China Southern Power Grid has been fully committed to advancing three major supporting power grid projects for the Chongqing–Yunnan High-Speed Railway: the 220 kV Luming Transmission and Transformation Project, the Songming Traction Station 220 kV External Power Supply Project, and the Yuhai Village Traction Station 220 kV External Power Supply Project. These efforts have laid a solid electrical foundation for the smooth opening of the central Yunnan section of the Chongqing–Yunnan High-Speed Railway.

As an important part of the national “Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal” high-speed railway network, the Chongqing–Yunnan High-Speed Railway is a key corridor connecting the Chengdu-Chongqing twin-city economic circle with the Central Yunnan urban agglomeration. Its supporting power grid projects are the “energy arteries” ensuring the safe and stable operation of the high-speed rail.

These three major supporting power grid projects are not only the core support for traction power supply and signal control but also strengthen the regional power grid structure simultaneously, injecting strong electrical momentum into the production, life, and industrial development of communities along the line.

Since construction began in December 2025, the Kunming Power Supply Bureau has adhered to the principles of “ensuring quality, safety, and progress,” concentrating its strengths to launch a tough battle for project construction. During construction, over 340 specialized personnel, construction managers, and technical backbones have been stationed at the front lines of the projects, overcoming challenges such as harsh winter conditions, complex coordination, and tight schedules. They have accelerated work, advanced progress, and improved quality, pushing the projects forward with “accelerated speed.”

Currently, the 220 kV Luming Transmission and Transformation Project is progressing efficiently, with the main control building and 35 kV distribution building structures successfully topped out in just 65 days, significantly ahead of the original schedule. The 220 kV external power supply projects for the Yuhai Village Traction Station and the Songming Traction Station of the Chongqing–Yunnan High-Speed Railway were completed within 68 days, including all line foundation transfer and quality inspection acceptance work. They are now fully ready for tower assembly, with an average construction period nearly 20 days earlier than planned, demonstrating the “Kunming speed” in power grid infrastructure.

Behind this speed is the strong support of meticulous management. The Kunming Power Supply Bureau has established a comprehensive, detailed control system, directing manpower, materials, and technical resources to the front lines. They strictly implement a daily tracking and management mechanism for work plans, reviewing construction progress, identifying issues, and optimizing construction plans daily. This closed-loop management ensures that project progress remains controllable, manageable, and on track.

Next, the Kunming Power Supply Bureau will continue to maintain a “diligent, fast, and pragmatic” attitude, further optimize construction plans, strengthen management measures, focus on project milestones, and strictly control quality. They will spare no effort to advance the construction of these three major supporting power grid projects, aiming for early completion and operation, providing safe, reliable, and efficient power support for the smooth opening of the Chongqing–Yunnan High-Speed Railway.
