U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent hinted that the U.S. government would not bail out cryptocurrencies. When asked whether the U.S. Department of the Treasury has the authority to purchase Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies, Bessent said, "I do not have the authority to do so, and as chair of the Financial Stability Oversight Council (FSOC), I do not have that authority either."
