Xinhua News Agency, January 30 — According to reports from multiple media outlets on the 29th, Tesla (TSLA.US) CEO Elon Musk is considering consolidating his assets to advance space computing deployment.

Sources familiar with the matter disclosed to Bloomberg News that Musk is contemplating the possibility of merging SpaceX and his AI company xAI, or merging SpaceX with Tesla.

The report states that Musk’s idea of deploying AI data centers in space could be realized through the aforementioned different pathways. If engineering technology permits, one approach is that on-orbit data centers operated by SpaceX will supply massive computing power to xAI. Another approach is that Tesla’s manufacturing capability of energy storage systems could help SpaceX run these data centers in space using solar energy.

Sources said Musk has not made a final decision, and details may change; related companies may also remain independent. Musk has also explored using SpaceX’s new generation heavy-lift rocket, Starship, to transport Tesla’s “Optimus” robots to the Moon and Mars.
