US SEC Chair Responds to Whether Venezuela's Bitcoin Will Be Seized

On January 13, during an interview with Fox Business, the host asked about reports that Venezuela holds approximately $60 billion worth of Bitcoin and inquired whether the US government might seize related assets. In response, SEC Chair Paul Atkins stated that the disposition of such assets is not within their jurisdiction and will be handled by other government agencies. Meanwhile, he emphasized that this week marks an important milestone in US crypto regulation, as the Senate will review a bipartisan crypto bill aimed at providing a clearer regulatory framework for the industry and clarifying the responsibilities between the SEC and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). This legislative development is seen as a key indicator of the direction of US crypto policy this year.
