Techub News reports that, according to CNBC, data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) shows that in the first half of 2025, losses from cryptocurrency ATM scams reached up to $240 million, roughly double the number of similar scam cases in 2024.
Currently, Spokane, Washington, has fully banned the establishment of crypto ATMs, making it one of the first cases in the U.S. to implement such a ban. Additionally, several other states are tightening regulations or discussing restrictions, including Arizona, Arkansas, Vermont, and St. Paul, Minnesota, which are also considering following Spokane's example of a comprehensive ban.
