I recently saw an interesting benchmark analysis in the crypto community. Industry insiders are discussing why privacy coins like Zcash have survived under various regulatory pressures, and someone drew an analogy with BitTorrent.

The core logic is this: BitTorrent has lasted so long because it never claimed to be for illegal activities, but truly坚持去中心化的理念. Similarly, the Zcash team has maintained this "true believer" attitude since its inception—the spirit of cyberpunk is there, and what they do has no illegal intent, just to protect privacy.

This坚持反而成为了一种保护。在加密行业这几年的动荡中,很多项目都被冲击得七零八落,但Zcash因为这种"正当使命"的定位,在生态中存活得相对坚挺。生态内的代表人物也纷纷表示支持这个观点。

To put it simply, attitude and original intention determine the project's resilience.

Zcash's narrative of "I'm all about privacy" is indeed strong. Compared to those projects that hide behind Web3 but are actually just cash grabs, it has definitely lasted longer.

This logic is correct. Zcash indeed focuses solely on privacy, not following trends or causing trouble, which is why it has lasted the longest.

The beginner's mindset can really save lives; that's how Zcash has held on until now.

Zcash's rhetoric sounds nice, but can it really withstand the FBI's knife in the United States? I'm a bit skeptical.

By the way, the way Zcash operates is indeed quite interesting. But that analogy with BitTorrent... feels like overthinking it, right? Privacy itself is a sensitive topic, and no matter how much you talk about "legitimate missions," regulatory authorities won't see you as purely innocent. I can only say that the reason it’s still around is mainly because no one has truly pushed it to the brink; the consensus is just there. If a country-level action really kicks in, all the original intentions will be meaningless.

This analogy is spot on; the logic behind BitTorrent really can survive until now. Zcash is just "I want to protect privacy," with no other tricks, and it’s actually living more robustly. In the crypto world, sincerity is truly valuable. Pretending to be innocent in front of regulators is not as good as actually being innocent. How many projects still dare to say they have no illegal intentions? Come on. Sticking to your guns for so many years without changing your stance really shows something. Honesty can actually be an advantage in the survival game, quite ironic. Whether Zcash is popular or not, this kind of persistence can indeed keep it alive. Much more honest than those altcoins born today and expected to multiply 500 times tomorrow. Speaking of which, do privacy coins still have a future? No matter what, at least these "true believers" die with a clear conscience. Crypto punks never compromise, and they should.

To be honest, this set of theories sounds good, but it feels a bit overly romanticized. Is Zcash really just for privacy? Or is the original intention itself hard to scrutinize? If the original intention🤔 is really so effective, why are so many projects failing? The analogy of BitTorrent is indeed illustrative, but survival is more about how difficult it is to ban than anything else. This argument seems a bit like taking sides just to take sides. Zcash has lasted this long, and regulatory pressure is indeed one factor, but can we really say that original intention and attitude alone determine resilience? It seems to me more like the credit goes to technological moat. Hmm, the spirit of cyberpunk sounds romantic, but in practice, it probably isn't so pure. This is the eternal problem in Web3—ideals and reality never quite match up.

Zcash really has something, unlike those projects that hide behind privacy but are actually just money laundering. The true cryptopunk spirit is still worth respecting.
