In the decentralized storage community, there are always projects that work quietly—Walrus is such a player.

It is not here to compete for the spotlight in blockchain, but to address a long-overlooked problem: where should those massive files be stored? 4K videos, AI model weights, TB-sized datasets... These things are not suitable to be piled on the chain. Using blockchain as a part-time hard drive? The cost would explode, and the efficiency would still be poor.

Based on the Sui architecture, Walrus takes a different approach—offloading the storage of truly large files off-chain while ensuring security and reliability, all at a very low cost. It’s like giving the blockchain a breather, allowing it to focus on what it does best. This division of labor is actually a direction that many projects in Web3 infrastructure are still exploring.

To be honest, I can get this idea... Using blockchain as a hard drive is indeed a joke, but Walrus's division of labor approach this time is pretty good.

Someone should have done this earlier; the Walrus idea really hits the pain point. The on-chain storage setup is indeed a false demand, wasting gas and being slow. Sui is the right direction.

The logic of off-chain storage should have been played this way a long time ago. Finally, someone dares to clearly distinguish the responsibilities of the chain.

Bro, this idea is really brilliant. Finally, someone has figured out the concept of off-chain storage.

Haha, Walrus's idea is indeed brilliant. The combination of off-chain storage and on-chain verification is the right way forward.

It sounds like someone finally thought of the real issue— not everything has to be pushed onto the chain.

Hey, finally someone understands this. Not everything needs to be on the chain, I respect Walrus's logic.

To be honest, I quite agree with Walrus's approach. Not everything needs to be on the blockchain; some projects are just for the sake of being on the blockchain, making it seem like a game. Clear division of labor is actually more efficient, and this is a pragmatic approach.
