Ethereum is really about to make a big move. Vitalik and the core development team of Ethereum have been frequently discussing the next phase of technical directions. The roadmap is already quite clear, with three key upgrades underway.

Let's talk about what these three major upgrades are. The first is The Surge, centered around Danksharding technology. This plan's ambitious goal is to increase Layer 2 network speeds by 100 times while reducing Gas fees to nearly zero. This isn't just talk; testing is already underway on the testnet.

The second is The Scourge. This upgrade mainly addresses two issues: one is the unfairness brought by MEV (Miner Extractable Value), and the other is the risk of centralization in liquid staking. Simply put, it's about making the network fairer and more decentralized.

The third is The Verge, which introduces Verkle trees to optimize data storage. As a result, running nodes will become even cheaper, and the overall decentralization of the network can be elevated to a new level.

The logic behind these three upgrades is quite clear: speed up, reduce costs, and increase fairness. If all these can be achieved as scheduled, Ethereum's potential will be re-energized.

Looking at the data, Ethereum has long been proving its capabilities. After the Merge upgrade, energy consumption plummeted by 99.9%, a strong environmental statement. In terms of ecosystem, DeFi's total value locked remains the top, and the daily active addresses haven't lost much popularity.

But here's the question—can these upgrades really be implemented on schedule? The market has already started to price in these positive developments in advance. Will there be a situation where "good news is fully priced in"? Also, which ecosystems will ultimately benefit from these technological breakthroughs? Will it be Layer 2 tokens like ARB and OP, or others? These are all worth observing.
ETH-2,48%
ARB-2,2%
OP-1,41%

It sounds like another round of technical hype, but the question is whether it can really be delivered this time. Talking about Danksharding again—when will this technology actually go live? The Scourge aims to address MEV—does it sound easy to say but really feasible to implement? I just want to know after this wave of upgrades, which will be more popular, ARB or OP? Post-Merge, the environmental angle was well promoted, but the market probably already digested that story. Is there still a new story to tell? Can gas fees really be driven close to zero? I have my doubts about that. Instead of just watching the upgrades, it’s better to see which L2 ecosystem tokens will ultimately benefit—that’s the real focus. Verkle trees sound impressive, but the actual effectiveness needs to be proven with data.

Listen to this again—positive expectations. But when will it truly go live, year and month? It's still in testnet. Honestly, it's testing; uncomfortably, there's no clear timeline yet. Gas fees dropping close to zero? I just laugh when I see Ethereum's current transaction fees. Come on. Speed up, reduce costs, increase fairness—sounds great, but whether ARB and OP will benefit from this wave of gains depends on external factors. DeFi's locked-in volume being number one looks good, but why haven't the ecosystem tokens gone up? That's a bit ironic.

Well, Surge, Scourge, Verge... sound grand, but the real key is when they actually go live. Aren't there plenty of stories where these roadmaps just tease people and then end up abandoned? Wait, the Layer2 project teams must be trembling after hearing this. Feels like they're digging their own graves. Honestly, information asymmetry is the real key to making money. All these have been overhyped already. They also claimed that energy consumption would plummet during the Merge, but what happened later... Forget it, don't overthink it. If the upgrade is really that powerful, would we latecomer retail investors even have a chance to jump on?

It's better to say the roadmap is clear, but honestly it's just more waiting. Will this time really deliver? The mouthpiece king is back again and again. Can't you just talk less and do more? What’s the use of being the number one in DeFi lock-up volume? Gas fees are still so high they’re suffocating. If Layer2 could speed up by a hundred times, I’d go all in immediately, but I bet five bucks it’ll be a missed deadline. These three upgrades will take ages to implement. I’ll wait and see how ARB and OP perform first. Every time, it’s grand visions, but the result is just a price surge followed by nothing. Please, no more of this routine. Instead of waiting for upgrades, why not buy OP now? At least you’re earning gas fees. It’s Surge, Scourge, Verge—my head’s buzzing. Can you be more straightforward? All the good news has been digested, and you still want to pump the market? This wave is risky; hold your positions cautiously. The last sentence hits the hardest. It’s really time to think about who the real final winner is.

Scheduled to be implemented? Haha, I'll just buy an Ark short position first.

It's been so long, finally it's time to get serious, just worried it will be another PPT upgrade haha Gas fees are approaching zero again, how many times have I heard this saying... Surge, Scourge, Verge, this naming style is quite unique The testnet is running, and it is indeed interesting, but real-world deployment is still a distant dream, as always After all the positive news, this is a good question to ask. Those who are entering now should think carefully I'm actually more concerned whether ARB can hold up after this drop; it feels a bit risky Three upgrades in a row, the technical direction is fine, it all depends on how well the execution is Still need decentralization? Then MEV really needs to be handled properly; this pit is too deep

Here we go again, when will Danksharding really go live on the mainnet? Testing on the testnet is useless. It seems aggressive but in reality, the delivery deadlines keep getting pushed back. Are we going to wait another two or three years? Can Gas fees really be driven close to zero? If you believe that, you're dreaming. The risk of all positive news being exhausted is indeed something to watch out for. What are those Layer2 guys laughing at? If Surge really happens, won't they become unnecessary? If we can truly solve MEV, that would be a game-changer. Right now, those bots are eating up too much. If costs drop, can I run my own node? Let's do the math, but the reality might be another story.
