[Bit推] The Commodity Futures Trading Commission has undergone a leadership change. According to the official statement, Acting Chair Caroline Pham has officially stepped down, and the new Chair Michael Selig has taken over.

Pham has been a member of the CFTC since April 2022 and was promoted to acting chair in January 2025. Under her leadership, the CFTC has made significant progress in several key areas. First is regulatory modernization—the agency has advanced rule updates to adapt to market evolution; second is cryptocurrency innovation—launching the “Crypto Sprint” (Crypto Sprint) initiative and issuing a framework for guidance on tokenized collateral, creating a clearer regulatory environment for the trading of these emerging assets; third is cost optimization—reducing the compliance burden on market participants through a series of measures.

Pham expressed confidence in Selig before stepping down, believing that his pragmatic leadership style could find a balance between promoting innovation and maintaining market integrity. This balance is key to the current development of the cryptocurrency market—allowing space for innovation while also mitigating risks. Whether Selig can continue and deepen this direction remains to be seen.

What progress has been made in the crypto sprint that Pham has been working on for over a year? I've heard that mainly some documents were released, but there aren't many tangible results... What can Selig do when he comes to power? It will still just be dragging on.

Pham has indeed accomplished something over the past year, the crypto sprint really gave the market a sense of reassurance, but I don't know if Selig will change direction as soon as he comes in... I'll bet 5 dollars they will come up with some nonsense within three months.

Hmm? Pham is out? Will Selig come in and cause some trouble again... Crypto Sprint has just begun.

Pham's AE still has some skills; the operations during the crypto sprint indeed opened up the situation. I'm just afraid that Selig might stir up some trouble again, with the regulators changing their stance every three days...

I'm quite optimistic about Pham's Crypto Sprint, but it's hard to say whether Selig can continue to push it forward... Which of the two is more friendly to encryption?
