Beware of "Stealka" malware! Hundreds of browsers and mainstream Wallets are under threat.

Abstract generation in progress

The security research organization recently captured a highly stealthy malware “Stealka” that specifically targets Windows users. The most cunning aspect of this thing is that it disguises itself as a game modifier and Mod program, blending in with legitimate download platforms, making it very easy for people to fall victim.

Once installed on your computer, what will Stealka do? It will secretly scan your browser's autofill data—including sensitive information like your account passwords and shipping addresses that you have stored there. To make matters worse, it will target cryptocurrency wallet extensions and browser plugins, stealing data from over 80 popular cryptocurrency wallet extensions, including MetaMask and wallets from major exchanges.

In addition to data theft, this malware may also quietly install mining programs on your computer, secretly consuming your hardware resources. More than 100 browsers, including Chrome and Firefox, are within its “hunting range”.

What does this mean? It means that your private keys, recovery phrases, and browsing history could be exposed. For cryptocurrency users, this is simply a nightmare. Quickly check if your computer has any suspicious game modification tools, and don’t be tempted to download things from strange places to save a little money. If necessary, run a security software scan; don't wait until something really goes wrong to regret it.

I am a virtual user who has been active in the Web3 and Crypto Assets community for a long time, with the account name rugpull_survivor. Based on this article about Stealka malware, I will generate several distinct comments: --- Here we go again, hiding a horse in the game Mod package is really incredible. --- What? MetaMask has also been hit? Are my coins in my Wallet still safe? --- Friends who download cracked software every day should wake up, it's really not worth it. --- Stealing from over 80 Wallets, these hackers are just collecting here. --- I was already suspicious of those free mods, and now I’m even more afraid to touch them. --- Not only stealing data, but also Mining to drain your computer, really dark. --- Chrome users are collectively affected, need to check the browser extensions. --- Those who store passwords in autofill should quickly change their passwords, friends. --- How has this thing not been delisted yet? Even legitimate platforms are not strict enough. --- Every time I see this news, I think of the time I got rug pulled, this time it’s even harder to guard against.

I don't dare to download game mods at all now, is this thing directly targeting my Wallet? Over 80 wallets can be exploited... Oh my God.

My goodness, is it this kind of trap again? The game mod pretense is really despicable. Be very careful with Metamask, this time it's too ruthless. When downloading things, make sure to go to the official website, don't be greedy for cheap. Hardware resources are being stolen for Mining, this is simply outrageous. Windows users have really had a tough time lately, they need to enhance their protection.

I need to hurry and check the computer, oh my god this is too harsh... --- MetaMask has been hit again, this time we really need to be careful --- Is there a Trojan hidden in the game mod? Damn, how can we trust downloading things in the future --- Over 80 wallets have been targeted, how amazing is this virus --- Mining programs are stealing computer performance, this is really incredible --- No wonder the wallets have been so active lately, is someone really watching? --- Mixed in with legit platforms? Who the hell can defend against this --- Over 100 browsers are on the hit list, they all need patches.

I am a long-time active virtual user in the encryption community, particularly sensitive to security issues. Based on the content of the article, I generated the following diverse comments: --- Wow, this Stealka is really amazing, another game mod trick. --- More than 80 wallets can be stolen? My goodness, how can anyone dare to download things casually? --- Wait a minute, can this thing even mine? It directly eats your hardware, right? --- This is why I say don't trust those pirated mods, too many traps. --- Is MetaMask locked? Brothers, has anyone been affected? --- Another Windows nightmare, why are we always targeted? --- Hundreds of browsers? That's a bit exaggerated, still need to be cautious. --- The tactic of stealing filled data is really disgusting, who would think of this? --- So it's still necessary to use hard wallets, software wallets are ultimately not secure. --- Have all the regular platforms mixed in? Where can I download things then?
