Polymarket launches independent L2 development plan to break free from Polygon network dependency

Abstract generation in progress

【ChainNews】Polymarket recently experienced an embarrassing downtime event—the culprit was an issue with its underlying Polygon network. Although the official team has not made an official statement yet, internal discussions about major actions are already underway.

According to leaks from the Discord community, the Polymarket team has decided to build its own infrastructure and develop an independent Layer2 network. The logic behind this is clear: relying on others is less reliable than relying on oneself. Past network disruptions have served as lessons, and now they aim to completely shed the limitations imposed by Polygon.

Team member Mustafa revealed on the official Discord that this is currently the top priority. He used the phrase “top priority” and confidently stated that progress will be made quickly. While specific timelines and technical details are still confidential, he emphasized that this is to achieve platform stability and independence.

It is worth noting that not long ago, the Polygon Foundation admitted that their PoS network experienced a failure affecting some RPC nodes. The good news is that all functions have now been restored to normal. However, this incident also served as a wake-up call for Polymarket—the risks of long-term reliance on a single Layer1 should not be underestimated. Building an independent L2 might be the only way out.

It's about time to break away from Polygon. Otherwise, every time the network acts up, we have to be stuck with it, which is really annoying. I think building our own L2 is a reliable move, much better than being choked by someone else. Mustafa talks a good game, but let's see if he can really deliver quickly, and not turn into a new "soon" joke. To be honest, Polymarket's recent moves seem a bit passive, but looking at it from a reverse angle, it’s a good opportunity to create a more stable version. Relying on Polygon was always a hidden risk, and it's not too late to mend the fold now. If this really works out, the landscape of the prediction market might change, and then we'll see who can keep up.

Once again, Polygon is digging its own grave. This time, Polymarket is finally going to become independent. --- Building your own L2 is indeed the right way. Don't be bound by the ecosystem anymore. --- Hmm... "Upcoming launch" and "Top priority" again. Why are these phrases used again? --- Finally, someone has thought it through. If you're a guest, you have to accept your fate. --- May I ask when this wheel can start rolling? Please give a date. --- This move is a bit harsh. Polygon must be panicking. --- The issue of autonomy should have been addressed long ago, but how much longer do we have to wait?

Another story of "reinventing the wheel," I just want to see if Polymarket can really withstand it. --- Polygon is really quite disappointing, but an independent L2? That's not so simple. --- Finally someone couldn't take Polygon's attitude anymore, about time. --- Sounds pretty big, but I don't know when it will actually go live. --- Autonomy is indeed important, but they probably haven't figured out the technical difficulty yet. --- Instead of waiting for official statements, it's better to stock up on some POLY now and watch the show. --- This plot feels a bit familiar... building your own L2? Alright, I'll watch. --- Wow, they're going to stand on their own again, it seems the entire ecosystem is distancing itself from Polygon. --- Mustafa dares to make this move, but whether it will succeed is the real key. --- Centralization risk is back again; building your own L2 might not be a good idea.

Ha, it's another story of being screwed over by Polygon. This time, we're finally going independent. --- Claiming to build L2 is easy; let's see it actually run smoothly before bragging. I'm waiting to see. --- It should have been like this a long time ago. Relying on others is a ticking time bomb. --- Mustafa's "top priority" sounds urgent, but not a single technical detail has been revealed... Could it be another big talk? --- A prediction: this L2 will take at least half a year to launch. I bet five dollars. --- Honestly, Polygon's shutdown was really embarrassing. Polymarket was forced to build its own infrastructure, which shows the current awkwardness of DeFi. --- Building your own wheel costs a fortune. How should this money be calculated? --- Finally, there's a platform willing to cut the parasitic mode. Not bad.

Haha, Polygon has dropped the ball again, this time Polymarket got scammed... They should have done it themselves a long time ago. Build your own L2? Sounds impressive, but I'm just worried it’s another empty promise. Calling it the "top priority" sounds nice, but unfinished projects are nothing new. If this keeps up, Polygon will eventually be abandoned by the entire ecosystem. Mustafa's words sound pretty tough, but whether they can deliver on time is the real key.

Ha, another one trying to go independent, all nice words like "independent L2," but in the end just burning money piling up... --- Polygon messes up again? Truly incredible, this team should wake up already. --- Building their own L2, huh? And then waiting another half year to start? I've heard this excuse too many times. --- Instead of believing their "quick progress," better check how much is left in the wallet. --- To break free from Polygon dependency? First break free from funding dependency. --- Talking about what’s the top priority, but isn’t it just helplessness and lack of options? --- Is this really going to run away this time? Or is it just another PPT project?
