Having been in the crypto industry for so many years, every time I hear the phrase "this is just a casino," I want to have a proper discussion about this topic.
To be honest, these 8 years of experience have shown me a lot. From initial technological exploration to today's ecosystem development, cryptocurrencies are far more than just surface-level speculation.
Many people see price fluctuations and short-term arbitrage, but they do not see that: technology is iterating, applications are being implemented, and real financial problems are being gradually solved. Liquidity innovations in DeFi, ownership confirmation mechanisms in NFTs, the possibilities of cross-chain interactions—these are things that cannot be achieved in a casino.
Of course, there are indeed speculators, risks, and failed projects in the crypto market. But which emerging industry has not gone through this stage? During the internet bubble, some said the internet was a scam; the stock market has never lacked speculators. The key is: how do you view the long-term value of this industry?
Why do I have no regrets? Because I witnessed the transition from a code dream to real-world applications. Whenever I see people obtaining better financial services through DeFi, or creators earning more direct income via Web3, I know that my 8 years of investment have been worthwhile.
The crypto industry is still in its early stages, with problems and opportunities coexisting. But for me, that is the most interesting part.

Early adopters are always ridiculed, but the ones who make money are also always the early adopters, aren't they?

Ultimately, it's a matter of faith. I've experienced several major dips, but I really don't regret it.

Well said, that's exactly what I think. The casino discussions are really annoying as hell.

Really, the term "casino" is overused; it only scratches the surface.

Casino talk is indeed annoying, but on the other hand, those who complain now will probably regret it in eight years, haha.

Really, every time I hear this, I just want to roll my eyes... Casino? How do you explain those innovative DeFi features?

That's exactly what I've been saying all along; I'm tired of hearing the word "casino."

Casino? Laughs, that's because you've never seen how DeFi really kicks into gear.

The term "casino" really sounds outdated. Honestly, it's just that people haven't truly understood what this system is actually doing.

I've heard this argument too many times, but it's actually quite sincere.
However, I think that casinos and development are not mutually exclusive; both exist here.
It mainly depends on what stage you're involved in. Early mining and gold rush are definitely different from later application deployment.
