[BlockBeats] November was another bloody month in the Web3 space, with total losses from various security incidents soaring to $184 million.
The worst hit was Balancer, which lost $128 million directly to hackers. The Korean exchange Upbit wasn’t spared either, losing $36.8 million. This wave of attacks came in all forms—smart contract exploits, social engineering phishing, Ponzi schemes, rug pulls—everything you can imagine.
Looking at the data: smart contract vulnerabilities were the hardest hit, with 15 major incidents directly causing $175 million in losses. While phishing attacks didn’t involve large amounts per incident, the sheer volume made up for it—around 7,000 unlucky victims were affected, with cumulative losses of about $8 million.
This month’s security situation is really grim, so everyone should stay extra vigilant when operating on-chain.

184 million down the drain, how ridiculous is that... Balancer lost 128 million just like that; contract vulnerabilities really are ruthless killers.

184 million is just gone like that, my god. How are there still people who dare to keep their money on exchanges?

Damn, look at these numbers. Spent so much in just one month. Why does it feel like everyone in this space is always paying tuition?

What's going on in November, one exploit after another—can we even play with crypto safely anymore?
---
Smart contract vulnerabilities are impossible to guard against completely. Feels like no one can claim they're totally secure.

7,000 people got phished? Guys, stay alert and don't click on random links.

184 million down the drain… now that's real impermanence.
---
Is this Balancer incident the same issue again, or did they find a new vulnerability?
