The Fall of a Peking University Genius: From Mining Entrepreneur to Multinational Drug Lord
The Peking University alumni circle has received bad news: an alumnus is involved in drug trafficking in Mexico, earning one billion a year. After being caught, they dug a tunnel for a beautiful escape.
The senior's name is Zhang Zhidong, a 2006 undergraduate from the Department of Spanish at Peking University.
Zhang Zhidong Born in 1987 into an ordinary family in Beijing.
Admitted to Peking University in advance in 2006 with a perfect score in mathematics.
In 2010, I worked as a translator in Mexico.
In 2015, starting a mining machine rental business in Mexico (turning point)
In the rental business at that time, it was common for Mexican merchants to default on rent payments. Zhang Zhidong, with his keen insight from Peking University, discovered that merchants who paid their rent on time each month were very likely to be local drug dealers.
In 2019, became the logistics director of the Sinaloa cartel, Mexico's largest drug trafficking organization.
In 2020, he established a money laundering empire based on his understanding of finance and cryptocurrencies.
Zhang Zhidong established a complex money laundering network consisting of more than 170 bank accounts, leveraging the cryptocurrency knowledge he accumulated from his previous mining machine rental business. U.S. prosecutors later accused Zhang Zhidong of laundering at least $200 billion in drug profits for Mexican drug cartels in just the past two years, with his personal annual profit reaching $150 million. The speed of this money printing is comparable to a printing press, shocking the entire drug cartel.
He not only serves himself but has almost monopolized the money laundering business of major drug traffickers in Mexico with the advantages of "low fees and discreet operations."
Married to a drug cartel in 2021
The drug trafficking organization aimed to bind Zhang Zhidong by marrying him to the daughter of the Sinaloa cartel leader, and then officially take over the fentanyl (drug) business. During this period, Zhang Zhidong demonstrated his academic prowess by self-studying chemistry knowledge and personally improving the manufacturing process of fentanyl, significantly increasing its purity.
Captured by Mexico in 2024, escaped from prison that year.
In 2025, it will be laid in Cuba, extraditing to the United States. Facing trial in New York, or facing life imprisonment.
I estimate that in a few years there will be a movie remake about the deeds of the senior student from Peking University.
