Foresight News, blockchain infrastructure Espresso Foundation issued a document saying that its long-running Decaf testnet was successfully upgraded to a permissionless HotShot proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus on April 25, which was jointly completed by Espresso Systems and 22 node operators. This upgrade is a key step towards Mainnet 1.0 and is expected to go live later this year. In addition, officials said that the upcoming transition to mainnet 1.0 will be accompanied by the launch of ESP, the native token of the Espresso network. The token will power the network’s economic security model and governance system, as well as open testnet staking to new node operators.
