Gate News updates: On April 10, according to people familiar with the matter, Middle East crude oil producers have asked Asian refiners to submit their April and May shipping plans in preparation for the eventual reopening of the Strait of Hormuz (one of the world’s most important crude oil transport routes). There is currently no sign that Iran is lifting its blockade of the waterway; the previous blockade caused energy prices to surge sharply. However, the two-week ceasefire agreement previously announced by the U.S. and Iran has brought hope for reopening the strait. A source said Saudi Aramco, the world’s largest crude oil exporter, has asked customers to submit applications for May shipments from the ports of Yanbu and Ras Tanura. One of the sources said this will depend on the resumption of exports from eastern Ras Tanura Port, and that the port’s exports require ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
