ZachXBT: Bitcoin Depot was actually robbed of 54 BTC, and the discovery was 3 days later than the official disclosure

Gate News message, April 9, on-chain detective ZachXBT posted that the actual losses from the hacker incident disclosed by Bitcoin Depot should be 54 bitcoins, exceeding the 50.9 bitcoins reported officially. ZachXBT noted that the Bitcoin Depot team took 3 days to discover that $3.6 million had been stolen; the suspicious outflow of funds actually occurred on March 20. Previously, Bitcoin Depot stated in a filing submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that the company suffered a cybersecurity attack on March 23, in which the hacker obtained digital asset settlement account credentials by compromising its IT systems and stole about 50.9 bitcoins from the company’s wallet, worth about $3.67M.
