Recently, the 2026 Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Innovation Medicine Translation and Industry Promotion Competition, themed “Create Innovation in the Jing-Jin-Ji Region and Promote Health through Medical Enterprises,” was launched in Beijing. The competition is co-hosted by the Beijing Municipal Committee of the China National Committee of the Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party, the Beijing Federation of Industry and Commerce, and the Tongzhou District Government. Focusing on four major areas—medical device and life science instruments, innovative drugs and biotherapies, AI medicine and digital health, and innovative inheritance of traditional Chinese medicine—it will deepen “Jing-Jin-Ji” coordinated linkages, set up nationally led professional tracks, provide phased and targeted precise empowerment, and cover key links such as clinical translation, technological innovation, industrial collaboration, and talent cultivation. It will comprehensively showcase the innovative achievements and practical experience of the three places in the biopharmaceutical sector. Beijing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Vice Chairman and Chairwoman of the Beijing Federation of Industry and Commerce Yan Ying attended and delivered remarks. Beijing Municipal United Front Work Department Vice Minister and Party Committee Secretary of the Beijing Federation of Industry and Commerce Yan Weiqun presided over the launching ceremony.

Yan Ying said that efforts should be made to deepen regional coordination and expand new space for industrial integration. Based on the national strategy for coordinated development in the Jing-Jin-Ji region, closely following the “one core and two wings” functional layout, it is necessary to further deepen the “Beijing R&D and Tianjin-Hebei translation” model, promote deep coupling between innovation resources and industrial chains, and improve mechanisms for cross-regional project cooperation, talent exchange, and results sharing, so as to jointly build a leading biopharmaceutical innovation highland nationwide. Efforts should be made to focus on results translation and release the momentum of technological innovation. By adhering to a balance between clinical needs and industrial development orientation, and leveraging the complementary strengths of the three places, more high-value innovative achievements should be moved from laboratories to production lines, to clinical applications, and to the broader market. Efforts should be made to pool development synergy and cultivate new advantages in the industrial ecosystem. Relying on platform carriers such as the Jing-Jin-Ji Entrepreneurs Alliance, it is necessary to gather forces from “government, industry, academia, research, application, capital, and the environment,” make good use of policy dividends, attract high-end talent and high-quality projects to cluster in Jing-Jin-Ji, and lay a solid foundation for building a world-class biopharmaceutical industrial cluster.

Yan Weiqun said that efforts should be made to focus on the linkage among the three places and upgrade and expand the scope of coordinated development. By deepening the linkage of resources and complementarity of advantages among the three places, it is necessary to promote the efficient integration of innovation factors and turn the competition into a flagship platform for coordinated regional medical translation development. Efforts should be made to focus on results translation and improve quality and efficiency in project implementation. By strengthening four-dimensional empowerment—policy, capital, space, and scenarios—it is necessary to unblock the key chain of results translation so that more high-quality innovative projects can take root, deliver results, and empower people’s well-being in Jing-Jin-Ji. Efforts should be made to focus on serving the overall national agenda and enhance empowerment through scientific and technological innovation. By continuously amplifying the event’s brand effect, it is necessary to attract innovative resources to cluster in key medical and pharmaceutical industry platforms in Jing-Jin-Ji, and make greater contributions to the coordinated development of the medical industry and the medicine manufacturing industry among the three places and to serving the Healthy China initiative.
