3690 | Meituan Travel: "Qingming + Spring Break" drives increased consumption in dining, entertainment, and leisure
Meituan (03690)’s Meituan Travel release data shows that, affected by the combined effect of the “Qingming + Spring Festival” mini-holiday, consumption across categories such as dining, drinking, and entertainment at destinations increased significantly. Among them, travel and cultural tourism spending from Sichuan and Jiangsu grew by 41% and 45%, respectively.
Data shows that traveling during the holiday not only drives traffic to major scenic spots, but also boosts consumption in city commercial districts. During the Qingming holiday, commercial districts such as Shenzhen Longhua, Guangzhou Chimelong, and Shanghai Wujiaochang ranked among the nationwide commercial districts with the highest consumption “heat.” The daily average traffic to Dianping’s “Must-Eat List” rose by more than 1 times year over year. Meanwhile, Nanchang, Yangzhou, Xuzhou, Jiaxing, Zhuhai, Quanzhou, Nantong, Shaoxing, Jinhua, and Taizhou ranked among the top ten “treasure foodie” cities in terms of holiday popularity.
Regarding Meituan Travel, it said that in recent years, young people’s travel spending has become increasingly vertical and more in-depth. They no longer satisfy themselves with just taking photos at a single scenic spot, but instead seek trips that combine “a strong sense of experience, a local feel, and good value for money.” Going forward, the platform will continue to leverage its local strengths in dining, drinking, and entertainment, and link up with a wide range of offerings such as scenic spots, homestays, and dining. With richer choices and better value, it will help more people unlock authentic and distinctive great travel experiences.
