The U.S. Department of the Treasury said it will hold meetings starting in April with insurance regulators at home and abroad, focusing on the latest developments in the private credit market.

The Treasury said the planned meetings would take place from April to early May. Participants will review recent market events, newly emerging risks, risk management practices, and the outlook for the sector. The first round of meetings is intended to promote more regular communication between state insurance regulatory agencies, and to lay the groundwork for ongoing close cooperation going forward.

Uncertainty in the private credit market over the past few weeks has spread across the broader market. Some of the largest U.S. banks have tightened lending, while relevant funds have limited redemptions. As investors’ concerns about valuations, transparency, and overall economic conditions continue to intensify, some investors have begun pulling out of the sector.
