Around 11:00 a.m., a worker of a subcontractor for an engineering project to convert a former waste disposal site into a capable facility on an artificial island outside Shiku Island was found unconscious, lying on the factory floor and falling into a coma. On-site first-aid personnel immediately administered treatment using an automated external defibrillator, and afterward the Flight Service Team transported him to Eastern District Hospital for emergency care. After arriving at the hospital, it was confirmed that he had died.

The Secretary for Environment, Xu Haoguang, expressed deep sorrow and extended sincere condolences to the deceased’s family. The department has asked the contractor to provide appropriate assistance to the family.

The Environmental Protection Department attaches great importance to the incident. It has promptly dispatched staff to the hospital to understand the situation and has notified the Labour Department, requesting the contractor to fully cooperate with the Labour Department’s investigation. The Environmental Protection Department has also required the contractor to submit a report on the incident within 7 days.
