Zhipu has launched GLM-5.1, available to GLM Coding Plan users. This model outperforms its predecessor, scoring 45.3 in coding benchmarks, and approaches Claude Opus 4.6 in capability. Users can switch models by renaming it to 'glm-5.1'.

According to monitoring by 1M AI News, Zhipu has officially announced the launch of GLM-5.1, which is now available to all users of the GLM Coding Plan (Lite/Pro/Max). Users can switch to this model by manually changing the model name to ‘glm-5.1’ in their configuration. In coding capability benchmarks (Coding Evaluation, using Claude Code as the testing framework), GLM-5.1 scored 45.3, significantly ahead of its predecessor GLM-5, which scored 35.4. GLM-5.1 is now very close to Claude Opus 4.6 in coding tasks, showing marked improvement.
