The Marcus Corporation, founded in 1935, originally purchased a theater located in North York, Wisconsin. It primarily operates in two segments: theaters and hotels & resorts. As of December 31, 2025, their theater operations include 78 theaters with 985 screens across 17 states (Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Virginia), including a third-party owned and managed theater in Minnesota with 14 screens. Their theaters operate under the Marcus Theatres, Movie Tavern by Marcus, and BistroPlex brands. The company also runs a family entertainment center called Funset Boulevard, adjacent to their theater in Appleton, Wisconsin. They are the fourth-largest theater chain in the U.S. Their hotel and resort business includes seven wholly owned and operated hotels and resorts in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Nebraska. Additionally, they manage nine hotels, resorts, and other properties through joint ventures and third-party management in Wisconsin, California, Minnesota, Nevada, Nebraska, Illinois, Iowa, and Pennsylvania, totaling approximately 4,700 hotel and resort rooms.
