Huge Light Rare Earth Mineral Discovered in Sichuan, Second Largest in the World
On March 24, the Ministry of Natural Resources announced that a new breakthrough has been made in the country’s latest mineral exploration strategic initiative. In the Maoniu Ping mining area of Mianyang County, Sichuan Province, China has discovered the second largest light rare earth mineral deposit in the world. The newly added rare earth resources (REO) in the mining area amount to 9.666 million tons. As of now, the total proven rare earth resources in Maoniu Ping mining area have reached 11.46 million tons, an increase of over 500%, ranking second in the world for on-site rare earth mineral reserves.
