Techub News reports that according to the Ta Kung Pao, the Hong Kong Central Police Station announced today the results of "Operation Thunder Drum." Since February this year, police have received reports from 13 victims with losses ranging from 500,000 Hong Kong dollars to 1.31 million Hong Kong dollars, totaling 5 million Hong Kong dollars in total losses. Police arrested 6 Chinese nationals (3 men and 3 women, aged 29 to 63) on charges of "conspiracy to defraud." The fraud scheme involved luring victims to pay "security deposits" to obtain low-interest loans. This case marks the first time cryptocurrency payments were demanded for security deposits. The 6 suspects are currently under detention, and the case remains under investigation.
