Altair Technologies disclosed that the recent firmware push from Bitmain for the Antminer series will disable the microUSB interface on the control board after the update, affecting multiple Bitcoin ASIC miners such as S19k Pro, S21, S21 Pro (first observed on S21 XP), and others. The interface was originally used for flashing third-party firmware and device system recovery. Disabling it will significantly increase maintenance difficulty and restrict miners' ability to independently optimize performance and energy consumption. Altair recommends that if the device is operating normally, users should be cautious when upgrading the firmware to avoid increasing operational risks and dependence on official manufacturer support.
