According to ChainCatcher news and a report by Crypto Briefing, a retired individual from North Carolina, Brandon LaRoque, had his Ellipal hardware wallet attacked, resulting in the loss of 1.2 million XRP, worth over 3 million USD. It is reported that the attack occurred on October 12, with the attacker initially conducting two small test transfers of 10 XRP each, followed by transferring approximately 1.29 million XRP to a newly created wallet, which was quickly dispersed to about 30 different wallets. Blockchain analyst ZachXBT discovered that the stolen funds were used to create over 120 cross-chain bridge transactions of XRP to TRON through Bridgers, ultimately laundering the money via OTC trading related to the illegal market Huione in Southeast Asia. The victim stated that this was all of his retirement savings accumulated over eight years.
