Trump's decision to dismiss Cook is not expected to be made before September 4.
Golden Finance reported that the U.S. District Court in Washington may not make a ruling on the case regarding President Trump’s dismissal of Federal Reserve Board Governor Lisa Cook before September 4 local time, as the judge has agreed to extend the deadline for the government to submit its arguments. U.S. District Judge Jacob has requested the Justice Department to submit another brief by Thursday regarding the request to oppose Cook’s immediate action to prevent the Fed from executing the dismissal order. According to judicial procedures, judges typically wait until all documents are submitted before making a ruling. Judge Jacob held a hearing on August 29. Cook’s attorney argued that if an agreement to ensure she continues to serve during the litigation period cannot be reached with the government, the judge needs to make a temporary ruling to maintain the status quo as soon as possible. The Fed's next interest rate meeting will be held from September 16 to 17.
