Initially, safe-haven currencies such as the Swiss franc and yen rose in response, but were subsequently bounced back by the US dollar. The US dollar has always been the ultimate safe haven during times of geopolitical or financial turmoil. The US dollar rose nearly 0.9% against a basket of major currencies, with the declines of the euro, pound, and Australian dollar being particularly noticeable. The US dollar index rose 0.85%, expected to record the largest single-day rise since May 12.
