The U.S. Government Efficiency Department (DOGE) has been dissolved and was originally supposed to operate until July 2026.
On November 24, after U.S. President Trump took office in January this year, the Department of Efficiency (DOGE), which was established with much fanfare to reduce the size of the government, has already been disbanded despite having eight months left in its term. When asked about the status of the Department of Efficiency, U.S. Office of Personnel Management Director Cooper said, “It doesn't exist at all.” Cooper added that the Department of Efficiency is no longer a “centralized agency.” This is the first confirmation from the Trump administration that the Department of Efficiency has been disbanded. The agency, led by Musk, was established in January this year and carried out sweeping reforms in Washington, quickly reducing the size of federal agencies, cutting their budgets, or shifting their focus to Trump's priorities. According to the executive order signed by Trump after he took office, the Department of Efficiency was supposed to operate until July 2026. ( Jin10 )
