On October 21, Jin10 reported that a recent poll conducted by Reuters and Ipsos shows that the American public blames Republican lawmakers more than Democratic lawmakers for the partial shutdown of the U.S. federal government. The poll also indicates that the support rate for Republican President Trump has risen slightly. This six-day poll concluded on Monday. The results show that Trump's support rate is at 42%, up 2 percentage points from earlier this month, but this change falls within the 2-point margin of error of the poll. Since early April, Trump's support rate has remained between 40% and 44%. The poll found that 50% of respondents believe the congressional Republican leadership bears the primary responsibility for the shutdown, while 43% believe the congressional Democratic leadership is to blame. The U.S. government shutdown entered its 21st day on Tuesday, making it the third-longest government shutdown in U.S. history.
