German consumer confidence has improved, with income expectations being a key support.
Jin10 Data, September 25 - Despite signs of a weakening labor market and stagnant economic growth, German consumer pessimism has eased as expectations for income growth have risen. The German Gfk Consumer Confidence Index has shown slight improvement, with an expected rise in October from the previous value of -23.5 to -22.3. This data marks the end of several months of continuous deterioration of the index and is slightly better than economists' expectations. Rolf Buerkl, head of NIM Consumer Confidence, stated: “Consumer confidence is ending its downward trend, at least for now.” The survey indicates that higher income expectations have driven this improvement, but consumers remain cautious about spending.
