PANews, September 19 - 23pds, Chief Information Security Officer of Slow Fog Technology, posted on the X platform that the U.S. Department of Justice has arrested a 19-year-old member of the Scattered Spider ransomware gang. Court documents claim that Jubair (also known as Earth2Star) obtained approximately 920.16 BTC in ransom through a ransomware attack. 23pds stated that the Scattered Spider Ransomware network did not exploit zero-day vulnerabilities, did not use new types of malware, and did not seek vulnerable external machines. They conducted basic reconnaissance through social media (LinkedIn) and investor websites, digging up any information about the company, and then called the help desk to gain trust.
