The Israel-U.S. quick victory plan fails; a prolonged war faces pressure

On March 12 afternoon local time, Mujeṭaba Hame-nei, in his first public statement since taking office as Iran’s new Supreme Leader, made a tough, defiant statement. The Joint Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces immediately issued a statement emphasizing that it would defend the achievements of the Revolution with a more resolute determination and spirit than ever before, defend the nation’s interests and national security, and counter the enemy’s plots to the very last moment. Iranian analysts pointed out that, as the war continues, Iran is still demonstrating strike capabilities in missiles and drones and has sufficient deterrent power in the Strait of Hormuz. The military plans by the United States and Israel, which hope to “wrap it up quickly” and knock Iran out fast, have already failed. Once the fighting enters a “protracted war,” the U.S. and Israel will face greater pressure in every domain than Iran. (CCTV International News)
