Musk Modifies Lawsuit, Claims $150 Billion in Damages for OpenAI's Charity Department
According to 1M AI News, Musk has amended his lawsuit against OpenAI and Microsoft, stating that if he wins, over $150 billion in damages should go entirely to OpenAI’s charity department rather than to him personally. The amended complaint also calls for the removal of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman from the board of the nonprofit organization and demands that Altman and OpenAI President Greg Brockman transfer all equity and financial gains to the charity department. The case is expected to be heard later this month in Oakland, California. Musk’s attorney, Marc Toberoff, stated that Musk ‘is not seeking a dime for himself,’ and ‘he is asking the court to return everything taken from public charitable institutions and to ensure that those responsible can no longer repeat their actions. This has been the core of his lawsuit from the beginning, until OpenAI’s PR team started distorting it. This amendment is meant to set the facts straight.’ OpenAI’s official account quickly responded, claiming that Musk submitted this document at the ‘last minute,’ ‘pretending to change his attack on the nonprofit OpenAI Foundation,’ and that his lawsuit ‘is nothing more than a harassment campaign driven by arrogance, jealousy, and a desire to slow down competitors.’ The day before, OpenAI had already sent letters to the Attorneys General of California and Delaware, requesting an investigation into Musk’s ‘improper and anti-competitive behavior.’
