ChainCatcher message: In a nationwide television address on Thursday, Trump detailed the military achievements of the “epic angry action.” He stated: “The U.S. military achieved a rapid and decisive victory. The core strategic objectives are close to being met. In all of human history’s wars, there has never been any enemy suffering such clear and devastating large-scale losses in just a few short weeks.”

He reiterated: “Iran’s ability to launch missiles and drones has been greatly weakened. We will never allow Iran to have nuclear weapons.” On energy, Trump still said: “We don’t need oil from the Middle East. Partly thanks to Venezuela’s oil and natural gas, the United States no longer depends on the Middle East at all. And the recent rise in gasoline prices in the United States is a ‘short-term’ phenomenon. Oil production will soon increase substantially. The United States has never been prepared economically like this.”

Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, which markets are most worried about, Trump still did not provide a timeline for when it would open: “We didn’t need the Strait of Hormuz in the past, and we don’t need it now. Once the conflict ends, the strait will open on its own.”
