LG Energy Solution will launch a new type of battery to focus on the energy storage market.

LG Energy Solution’s chief technology officer said it will begin large-scale production in 2027 of a new type of lithium iron phosphate battery. The product offers higher energy density and a longer cycle life. This is LG Energy Solution’s first disclosure of plans to roll out a significantly upgraded lithium iron phosphate battery model, aiming to reposition itself as a high-value solution for energy storage systems. In addition, LG Energy Solution is also investing in sodium-based batteries and dry-coating technology to reduce costs as it seeks to capture market share across multiple sectors, including electric vehicles, energy storage systems, and humanoid robots.
