Mars Finance news: On April 2, Iranian President Masoud Pezeşkiyan published an open letter to the American people on the X platform at local time on April 2, criticizing that the United States’ military actions against Iran essentially amount to acting as Israel’s “proxy,” and questioning whether the “America First” policy truly serves the United States’ national interests. Pezeşkiyan emphasized in the letter that Iran has “no hostility” toward the American people, and said that shaping Iran into a threat neither aligns with history nor with reality. He said Iran has never initiated a war, and that its military actions are “lawful self-defense.” On historical issues, Pezeşkiyan mentioned the 1953 Iranian coup, saying the event disrupted Iran’s democratic process and further intensified Iranian society’s distrust of the United States; he also criticized the United States’ long-term sanctions and its policy of supporting Saddam Hussein during the Iran-Iraq War. Pezeşkiyan also accused the United States of recent strikes on Iran’s key infrastructure of “constituting war crimes,” and warned that the relevant actions would increase regional instability and raise global economic and security risks. In the letter, he repeatedly singled out Israel, saying it diverts international attention from the issue of Palestine by creating an “Iranian threat,” and is trying to “make the United States fight until the last soldier and drain the last cent.” Pezeşkiyan called on the American people to examine the sources of information behind current policies, reassess their understanding of Iran, and warned that continued confrontation will have far-reaching effects on future generations.
