The three major U.S. stock indices close higher collectively

Local time March 17 (Tuesday), the three major U.S. stock indexes all closed higher. The Dow rose 0.1%, the Nasdaq rose 0.47%, and the S&P 500 rose 0.25%. The energy sector rose 1.1%, while the consumer discretionary, telecom, and technology sectors rose at least 0.2%, and the healthcare sector fell 0.9%. The Nasdaq 100 index preliminarily closed up 0.5%. Among its component stocks, Western Digital preliminarily closed up 9.3%, Seagate Technology rose 5.4%, Arm Holdings rose 4.7%, Micron rose 4.2%, and Google A rose 1.6% to lead the pack. Meanwhile, Marvell Technology, Honeywell, Amgen, FTNT, Atlassian, and Intel fell by as much as 3.6% at most. IBM preliminarily closed up 2.7%; Disney, Amazon, and Goldman Sachs rose more than 1%, leading the Dow component stocks. Boeing, Honeywell, Amgen, Salesforce, and Johnson & Johnson fell by at least more than 1%.
